Pride in his eyes

He had a springy walk in his step that day
He had that rare glow in his eyes,
His mind was wandering all over the place
From New clothes to Apple Pies.

He had his whole day planned,
With his wife and his 3 year old kid,
They would go out and dine in a nice eatery
His excitement could not be hid.

That day they lived a life of excess,
They partied and sang new songs,
That day was meant to be a day of happiness
A day when they right all the wrongs.

As the day ended the 3 year old stood in front of a man selling toys,
The mother was not too keen for him to have any,
But one should've seen the sparkle in his eyes.

The father had a small prayer on his lips
Oh God I hope he chooses what is cheap,
He chose a simple plastic toy,
His father took a sigh of relief.

The man in question was a simple labourer
And today was the day he got paid,
He took his family out in less than 10 dollars
Because there wasn't much he monthly made.

What captured my attention were those 30 seconds
When the kid had to make a choice,
That moment was equal to decades for the labourer
As if time stopped till his eyes turned moist.

Imagine the predicament of a helpless father
Whose troubles had already began,
He somehow finds a way to avoid his tears
Because he is Ultimately a Man

Humanity in those 30 secs
 died atleast a thousand times,
We failed that father miserably
It is our ugliest of crimes.

That man that day slept on a peaceful bed
And returned to work another day
In the same old world that makes him cry
Everytime he has something to say.

The cycle goes on and Nothing changes
The world is a broken place,
We all put a mask of happiness
With sadness on our hopeless face.

Why dont we teach in Schools & Colleges
the way to be happy and rich,
Why dont we try to eradicate poverty, which is nothing but life's big glitch.

I will never forget that spring in his step,
The way he looked up to the skies
I will never forget that dusty face with nothing but PRIDE IN HIS EYES

The Perfect Wife
I am looking for a perfect wife.
A girl whose heart beats for me.
A woman who knows how to run a house.
A genuine lady as committed as the humble bee.

In return I want to give her tons of happiness
And love she never imagined to be true.
I want to make her feel special
Like the freshness of morning dew.

What I want from her is a smile every day
when we open our eyes in bed.
I want her to tell me every sadness she has
While on my chest resting her head.

I want her to hug me as soon as I reach home
I want her to cook me the best of food
I want her to be in unconditional love with me
I never want her to be rude.

Whenever I am sad and down with pain
I want her to hold my hand
And tell me “Darling, I am here with you no matter what,
Even though time’s slipping as quick as an hourglass filled with sand.

I want to her to understand when I am angry
That I need a listening ear more than any body’s advice
I want her to understand that sometimes it’s good to be unusual
By adding a little bit of spice.

I need her with me in sickness and health
I need her to be by my side
I want to play a part of being a wonderful husband
To my one and only bride.

I want to surrender my everything to her
I want to submit her my life
I want her to be the center of my universe
That’s when she will be “The Perfect Wife

The Jesus I knew

This is a story of a friend, Emmanuel was his name
But once I recognized the true him, everything I knew never remained the same

It all started when we were in college
Emmanuel was asked to help a deeply worried friend
Emmanuel said it was not his time yet & he was not prepared
But immediately a helping hand is what he lend

The next incident happened when we visited children poor and sick
All of us friends were trying to make the children smile,
Emmanuel went up the stage and gave a speech never heard
There weren’t any poor & sick children, hence, up to until a mile

One fine day, floods hit the village
Food was scarce & people did not even have blankets to pull
Emmanuel collected money and made sure everyone ate
The leftovers were 12 baskets full

Emmanuel was more than self-giving
He would go out of his bounds to help others
All the elderly, were his own parents
All the young, were his brothers

The last part came when a faraway village
Was caught in the clutches of a life threatening disease
Hospitalization of the patients was important
But they stayed at home due to unaffordability of fees

That’s when Emmanuel decided to take part in a race
So that he could win the cash prize
He would donate the entire amount to that village
He hoped that money would suffice

He trained very hard for the final run
He pushed his body to the extreme
He wanted that village to restore its health
At that point, it was his only dream

The day was initiated with a lot of music
The gun shot was fired by the host
All Emmanuel could see was the face of those villagers
And the money that they needed the most

In the last moments of the Final Lap
Emmanuel excelled and won the race
But the suddenly before he could stop for the rest
He fell and his heart just stopped its pace

There was something he never told us
His chest always experienced a lot of pain
Doctors had warned him that if he ever ran
He would fall to never rise again

I ran to him and comforted him
But by then his life had diminished
He had worry in his dying eyes for the sick villagers
He concluded saying “It is finished”

That is when I realized with my wide teary eyes
Those were Jesus’s last words
Suddenly time stopped and silence filled the air
One couldn’t even hear chirping from the birds

The feeding of the Hungry, The curing of the Sick
And of course the first miracle
He lived his life so that others could smile
He died for God’s own people

That village soon restored its health
They will remember him throughout their Life
They now call him God’s chosen one
Coz he served happiness while being pierced by a knife

I feel like that traveler, who, while Jesus was with him,
Did not have the slightest clue
The name “Emmanuel” means “God be with us”
It was the name of “The Jesus I Knew”

The story of a poor man’s life

There are some rules life follows
These rules are not known to many
These rules make sure you live your life
Without saving a single penny

Rule no.1 is “Bad will follow bad
But good won’t follow good”
You will never feel everything going good
But once things go bad, they sometimes leave you without food

Rule no.2 is “However hard you try,
If you are born poor you will definitely die poor”
You may be born in a rug
But you will definitely die in a sewer

Rule no.3 is “Go ahead and Kill yourself
Coz nobody ever cares for you”
“Your death will too be considered a liability”
“People turning up for your funeral will be few”

Rule no.4 is “You have no right to speak
Till the moment you are not wealthy”
“Whatever the wealthy do, they are always right,
Being sick of money is the new healthy”

Rule no. 5 is the last of all the rules
“Life loves to see you in pain”
Your attempts to reduce the pain
Will always go in vain

These rules are made by life
And are not man made
Life tends to lose you in oblivion
Till the moment your last breath fades

I don’t see any escape from it
I see the doom of the forgotten
It’s like a rich man wears the riches of the world
And the poor man wears torn cotton

A rich man has land, A rich man has vehicle
A rich man has a wife
A rich man’s kid can’t even imagine
The story of a poor man’s life

INCOMPLETE

There is this story of Roy and Sara
A story with questions unanswered
A friendship that forgot its bounds
A relation that is defined by no available word

Roy and Sara were best of friends
They understood each other well
They knew what was going on in their heart
If only they could tell

Roy was in love with a girl called Jacqueline
Sara was in love with a boy called Frank
But Sara and Roy were on a totally different frequency
They were each other’s emotional bank

So there was this confusion in the hearts of Roy and Sara
Did they love their lovers or did they love each other
Is the friend the lover? And, is the lover the friend?
Well for quite some time they didn’t bother

Then came a time for their separation when they decided to marry their lovers
They were going to make the biggest decision of their life
Roy was going to be Jacqueline’s better half
Sara was going to be Frank’s lawfully wedded wife

Neither Roy nor Sara wanted to make a mistake
Was it emotional attachment or simply heartfelt love
They both did not say a word about it
They did not have the slightest nerve

Only God knows what was there between them
Whatever it was, they could not meet
Was it love, was it simply an emotional touch
In the end it was INCOMPLETE.

Sometimes

Sometimes the heart wants a little bit more
Sometimes it simply doesn’t want to go
Sometimes you have a choice to make
Sometimes you wished your life was fake

Sometimes you need a helping hand
Sometimes you take someone else's stand
Sometimes you hear the waters crack
Sometimes you are far and yet you are back

Sometimes you wanna mend a broken heart
Sometimes you dont know from where to start
Sometimes you find a soul with a thousand pains
Sometimes you find blood running through dry veins
Sometimes just sometimes

Doctor Love

I once walked lonely on the streets of the world,
Searching for a friend as pure as a pearl,
I had no friend, I had no mate,
I suffered from a very lonely fate.

Out came she, from a dirty box,
Struggling to tear some dirty socks,
Even though she was dirty and not at all clean,
She appeared so pure and so serene.

I named her Doctor Love from then,
I gave her a home like a lioness’s den,
She stares at me when I do something wrong,
She dances with me on her favourite song.

There was this moment in my life,
When I fell in love and got myself a wife,
It was Doctor Love, who found a wife for me,
It was as if she knew my destiny.

Doctor Love and I were taking a walk,
When a woman stopped by and started to talk,
Doctor Love then broke all barriers and ran,
Even a rocket would be slower, the way she can.

I found Doctor Love chatting with a girl,
The girl resembled beauty and peace entangled in a whirl,
I went up to her to speak to her and got lost in her looks,
You know they don’t make such girl’s anymore, not even in books.

Doctor Love bought me a lot of joy and never a moment of pain,
Doctor Love gave me whatever she had, without considering her gain.
Doctor Love told me once that she loves to live
She will meet me every morning and love is what she will give.

To define Doctor Love, I have no words,
She loves to run around and chase the birds,
Her love for me is genuine and thick as a fog,
Doctor Love is my everything, not just my dog.
